Phil Moffa began his journey in music in 1997 as a club DJ. His early performance work led him to his calling as a producer and Moffa attended the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Music degrees. After completing his studies at Purchase he was asked to serve as a masterclass instructor, where he continues to teach several music courses. In 2008, he became the first Artist in Residence at Indaba Music, a web-based musician collaborative, where he teaches electronic music production techniques. Moffa is the founder of the Tape Theory record label and is the owner/operator of Butcha Sound Studios based in Manhattan. Moffa is also the drum machinist/producer for the electronic music group Vinyl Life and the reggae group Uzimon & The Dons. As a writer, Moffa is a regular contributor to DJ Times Magazine.
