Born in Burbank, California in the 1950’s Ned was the son of a nurse and Lockheed Aircraft parts buyer, Evans became one of the Valley’s surfing cowboys.
He went on to study art at UC Irvine under the tutelage of; Robert Irwin, Ed Moses, Larry Bell, and Craig Kaufman, with fellow students Chris Burden, Charles Christopher Hill, and Alexis Smith. Through Ed Moses, Evans met Billy Al Bengston whom he assisted and doing so, the two travelled and surfed from Baja to El Salvador to Hawaii.
Currently, Evans lives and works in Venice, CA and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is included in many important public and private collections. His work was featured recently in the Pacific Standard Time exhibitions, “Best Kept Secret”, at the Laguna Beach Museum and “California Art: Selections from the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation”.
