Auckland, New Zealand
Julia Chiesa is a recent Masters graduate from the University of Auckland, Elam School of Fine Arts. In 2005 she moved from New York State to New Zealand and has since explored a practice in contemporary/conceptual performance art with four years of development in video installation towards a most recent practice in experimental drama short film.
Her works ricochet within the comic, the poetic, the enigmatic and melodramatic, most recently in themes of loss and misunderstanding. She feels passionately about researching, learning and understanding interdisciplinary fields of study, such as philosophy, culture, language, politics, fine art, aesthetics, quantum mechanics, science, and film theory towards a greater understanding of human interactions.
